The last (alphabetically) of the Automat line. This "C" model is very different from the others because it's a shoe-mount type, and quite a lot smaller.

I'd been asked a question about one of the other Automats and while I was reviewing my notes, I realized that I never bought a "C". I looked around and found one of the increasingly-rare deals on eBay where someone wanted a reasonable amount for the meter and didn't try to bleed me dry with shipping. You look at something that's worth $20, and couple asses have it for $650 or $1,000; but other people have it for $75 and $5 shipping, or $15 and $50 shipping. If you bought a postage stamp, they'd charge you $15 to ship it.

Anyway, I found someone who wasn't greedy and bought it. He didn't make his month's rent on me, but he did make a sale.

When it arrived, I suddenly remembered why I'd never bothered to get a "C": I don't like shoe-mount meters. and this one is a fine example: it's very small and you have to have really good eyesight or a magnifying glass to read it.

To use it: mount it on the cold shoe of an appropriate camera, selenium cell facing out so it sees what you're aiming at. Turn the dial to set the film speed. Then press the button and the dial was spin to show you the aperture-ƒ/number pairs.
