click for larger adMinolta's answer to the Canon AE-1, the XG-7 was a mid-tier body offering aperture-priority automatic exposure, use of the full Minolta line of Rokkor lenses, an autowinder, and other goodies. Around 1980 when I was looking for my first serious camera, I had it pretty-much narrowed down to this, the Canon AE-1 and the Olympus OM-1 (among those that were actually affordable). They were all very similar and had their individual pros and cons. And by then Miranda and Topcon were out of business, Mamiya was nearly out of 35mm, and for some reason, Nikons and Pentaxes just never did it for me.

I found a nice website on this camera series, The Rokkor Files.
