While I was tearing the car apart trying to diagnose a fault in the ignition, one of the things I did was check the Lucas Power Resistor. I'm still not sure what it does but read somewhere that it works with the coil as a ballast (voltage regulator). Since I had the thing out, I thought I'd open it and see what was inside.
