My father liked military watches--white numerals on a black face. His eyesight wasn't great and this was just what the doctor ordered: big and easy-to-read. Even the day/date is easy. The Smith & Wesson logo didn't hurt; I think there's a little Chevy / Ford rivalry between Smith & Wesson and Colt owners, and he was a S&W guy.
So I picked it up and this was his last regular watch. Now it's mine again. It's worn enough to be my weekend knock-about watch, but in good enough shape that it still looks presentable. And I love that big, easy-to-read dial, too.
