Sharp Alarm Chronograph wristwatch

Sharp Alarm Chronograph wristwatchAnother of my father's old watches. I believe it may have been a gift for some occasion, but I don't know. He didn't care for digital watches so he would not have bought it on his own.

I grew up in the 70s when LED watches briefly took over, and then were replaced almost overnight by LCD models, which you could read in normal light without having to cover the face and squint. Plus a lot of the LCDs were loaded with features, like this one.

And yet in the 90s, analog (dial) watches made a comeback, and by the 2000s most of them were analog again, and digitals were the minority. For a long time I couldn't figure it out, but I think I know now: these LCD watches are a pain in the ass to set.

I managed to get this one set up but it was quite an effort figuring out the combination of buttons to push and how long to hold them, etc. You could always read the instruction sheet, but that's only if you had it; almost nobody did. I don't have it, and I haven't found a copy on the internet.
