Hamilton "Clyde" wristwatch

Hamilton Clyde wristwatchMy first Hamilton wristwatch. It's seen better days. It used to be my everyday watch. A problem with it is that the case isn't sealed tight, so on hot days the moisture from my arm gets inside and steams the inside of the crystal.

Hamilton used to give their wristwatches names. This is a "Clyde," grade 747, 17 jewels. According to pocketwatchdatabase.com, when I run the serial number, it says it's estimated production year is 1951, is one of 77,200 in this production run (453,800 total), size 8/0s, adjusted.

Got it from my father, who likely found it at a swap meet and fixed it. The face needs cleaning but that's always a difficult and dicey job, so I just leave it alone. It's probably the smallest men's tank watch that I have. I still have it in my dress-watch rotation.

HamiltonChronicles.com has a nice webpage about repairing this watch.
