United States Watch Co. pocket watch

United States Watch Co. pocket watchAnother pretty watch; my photograph of the face is atrocious. I'll try to get a better one later. Pocket Watch Database identifies this as being from 1895, if the serial number starts with a 1 and not an I (as I read it on the movement). I don't know how many jewels. Pendant wind and set. Size 16 in a sidewinder configuration. I could not find a Grade on it.

The case is nickel or something close. Stamped E.N.W.Co. There's speculation that it means "Elgin National Watch Company," though Elgin isn't known to have made cases.

United States Watch ended up as part of Keystone in 1903, so I suppose the 1895 date may be correct.

Acquired: 2019

Circa: 1895

Current condition: runs for short bursts; needs cleaning
