Revere Telechron Model 911 electric clock

Herschede made these; Reveres were their electric clock line. Herschede was a quality clock company and they didn't want their reputation tarnished if electric clocks turned out to be turkeys, but Revere was a success. Revere is not associated with Revere Camera company, Revere silverware, or any other enterprise with the Revere name.

Some early Reveres are rare, valuable and very collectable. Most (particulary the post-war period) were produced in large numbers and are not valuable (that would include all of mine). If you can find one that works, they still make very nice clocks.

Just about all Reveres, as far as I know, are Westminster chime models. Most (if not all) are wooden cabinet mantle/shelf models. Revere stamped the number on the bottom of the cabinet, usually at or near the front. They didn't pick it out in paint so it's not easy to see unless you're really looking for it.

Revere R-911 Telechron

An inexpensive thrift shop find. Nice walnut cabinet with black accents on the sides. The glass bezel was gone (but is here now, even though it's hard to see). Runs great but the Westminster chime hits some sour notes, and I haven't tried to go in and adjust it yet. Usually what happens is that a part of the pads on the hammers wear out, and you need to rotate the pad. These things aren't really designed for someone to be able do this quickly, and I haven't done it before, so I've been slow to attempt it. It's on my list of things to do. This was made in 1941.

Acquired: 2000s, from a defunct thrift shop ($10)

Current condition: Runs fine.
