General Electric Telechron Model 414 "The Rhapsody" electric clock

GE Model 414 Rhapsody

One of my books says these were made between 1951 and 1955; someone else says it started in 1947. Regardless, it's very much like my Reveres below; it's a wood cabinet, Telechron movement with a Westminster chime and strike. The wood is "diagonal mahogony." It's got some blemishes ("character"), and if I really wanted to make it pretty again I'd re-lacquer it. But it's good as it is. To be honest I'm not overly fond of that wavy look; I mainly bought it as a motor-donor if my Revere 915 needs it some day. Still, not bad for the $16 I paid for it (including shipping).

Right now it's missing the dial glass, which I subsequently got from Timesavers. It's a standard oval Revere glass. Also it chimes fine but doesn't strike. I'm not sure what the problem is there yet; you'd think if it did one, it should do the other.

Acquired: 2010s, from an online auction ($16)

Current condition: Runs. Chimes but won't strike.
