I know the name because Merritt's Antiques sent an email advertising an identical one for sale. They call it a Victoria V.P. and date it from 1880. The only difference I can see is that Merritt's pendulum has some extra filigree on top of the bob. Mine may have had that at one time.
As I type this in 2019, they want $110 for it.
My father got this from his parents when he just got out of the Air Force in 1956; it was one of three clocks they gave him, along with the New Haven O.G. and another that I don't have (and thus can't identify). I can guarantee you that they did not pay anywhere near $110 for all three combined.
I suspected it was a Seth Thomas anyway. It's very close to my Seth Thomas Atlanta, and they both have Geneva Stops. But this one's missing the center dial-pan where they Seth Thomas logo might have been. The Flat-Top has it.
Runs great. This one's burned into my memory as one of the two ancient shelf clocks we had while I was growing up, along with the Atkins. The Atkins spent most of its time in the clock hanger, and this one somewhere in the living room nearby. I think of them as a pair.
Acquired: a gift to my father from his parents around 1956
Circa: 1880s
Movement: 8 day
Current condition: runs fine
